WHAT IS GRADING?

It is not about your test scores, in civil engineering and construction, the term “grading” refers to the process of ensuring a level base or achieving the desired slope for the course of a road or railway, a foundation, landscaping, garden improvements or surface drainage.

If rain does not effectively drain away from your structure, it can lead to water damage. In your home or office, this can cause harmful mold and mildew to grow. Even a relatively small amount of water can cause thousands of dollars in damage.

The skilled professionals at Graber Excavating & Demolition can help protect your home or prepare your land for new construction to ensure that your project gets off on the right foot.

The Demucking Experts

Back in the 1950s when properties in Sarasota and Manatee counties were first being developed, the beaches were dredged and a lot of organic material was left behind and just covered with clean fill.

This worked well enough for about 50 years, but the homes that are now being built throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties are much taller and heavier than homes that were built in the 50s so the foundations have to be built on more stable ground in order to support these heavier loads.

These heavier loads make the demucking process more important than ever before. During the demucking process, we typically excavate the site 4’ to 6’ until we hit an organic or silt layer which can be anywhere from 6” to 4’ in thickness. This process can be challenging because the water table is typically only 2’ to 4’ below the surface.

The demucking experts at Graber Excavating and Demolition use a quiet wellpoint system in order to remove the water from the soil and provide a dry surface in which to excavate the muck and bring in structural fill that is compact and in one foot lifts to ensure the highest rate of compaction.

Excavation is always a messy job, but it is even messier if it is not done properly.

Properly excavating your property is crucial to ensuring that the foundation of your home or office is sound and ready for new construction.

Demolition

Over time buildings can lose their structural integrity and depreciate to the point where they can no longer support their own weight.

Sometimes tearing down an old structure is just more practical than making patchwork repairs, but a previously existing structure on the land where you plan to build can make the tough job of new construction even tougher.

The skilled professionals at Graber Excavating & Demolition have the experience and knowhow to prepare your property for new construction and we haul away the debris giving you the perfect canvas for your next project.
